Stanley Kelley

Stanley Robert Kelley, Colonel (ret) US Army CE, was born in Portland, Ore. to Alice H. and Sanford R. Kelley. He attended Grant High School, Oregon State University and Texas A and M.

He had a long and varied military career, which included serving as division engineer of the 96th Infantry Division and commanding officer of the 321st Engineer Battalion participating in the Leyte and Okinawa assault landing operations during WWII, and as chief of the Construction Division of the US Army Construction Agency, France and supervisory civil engineer for the NATO Air Defense Ground Environment Management Office in Paris and Brussels.

He is survived by four children, Brian Kelley, Chris Lowell (Dick) , Kevin Kelley and Brad Kelley (Marina); five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dee, and second wife, Dorothy Sanborn Kelley. He spent his last years with his companion, Margaret Young.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 21 at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church, 4040 Sunset Drive, Lake Oswego.
