Shannon Larissa (Blacklidge) Brahmer

May 19, 1986 to Aug. 13, 2013 -


Shannon Brahmer died Aug. 13, 2013, of breast cancer. She was 27.

Mrs. Brahmer was born in Grants Pass to Gary and Marie Blacklidge and moved to West Linn as a young girl. She graduated from West Linn High School in 2004. She studied sociology at Oregon State University where she met her husband, Erik Brahmer. They graduated in 2008 and married Aug. 15, 2009.

Mrs. Brahmer received her master’s degree in teaching from Pacific University and taught elementary school around the valley in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties, most recently teaching fourth grade at Eagle Charter School.

She loved teaching and also loved to travel. Mrs. Brahmer especially enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking, skiing, camping and kayaking with her husband and her family.

Survivors include her husband, Erik Brahmer of Salem; parents, Gary and Marie Blacklidge of Oregon City; sisters, Brienne Blacklidge of Tanzania and Raeme Blacklidge of Springfield; brothers, David and Jeremy Blacklidge of Oregon City.

Remembrances may be made to the Shannon Brahmer Memorial Fund at the Oregon Gardens, P.O. Box 155, Silverton, OR 97381. This fund will purchase a butterfly bench that will permanently reside in the Oregon Garden, one of Mrs. Brahmer’s favorite places.
