Norman Pyle, age 92, passed away on December 5, 2017.
Norm was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on July 9, 1925 to Dr. Louis Apgar Pyle and Elizabeth (Healy) Pyle. He attended Cornell and Rutgers Universities, and obtained his BA with honors from Wesleyan University in 1949, completing postgraduate work in 1950. He joined the U.S. Naval Service during WWII and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1946, receiving the American Theatre and Victory Medals.
Norman began his career as an auditor at Peoples Trust Co., Bergen County, Hackensack, N.J., and spent the remainder of his career in Portland, Oregon. Beginning as a teller at First Interstate Bank in Portland, he spent all but two years of his banking career in the examining and auditing fields, ultimately being elected Senior Vice President and Head of the bank's Quality Assurance Departments. After retiring from First Interstate Bank in 1988, Norman spent several years as a part time loaned executive and volunteer for United Way.
Married just over 67 years to Marjorie (Wohlfahrt) Pyle. Shortly after their marriage on June 7, 1950 in New Jersey, they moved to Lake Oswego, OR in 1957, where they raised 5 children.
Norman is survived by his wife, Marjorie; their children, James, Susan, Douglas, David, and Jeffrey; and six grandchildren, Dustin, Mark, Megan, Karuna, Tyler, and Braedn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by his three brothers, William (Bill), Louis (Buddy) and Donald (Don).
Service to be held at Our Lady of the Lake in Lake Oswego, Oregon on December 28, 2017 at 11:00am. Norman's final resting place will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
