Dennis V. Buchanan
Dennis Buchanan was born August 3, 1932 and died December 26, 2017.
In between, he loved and was loved. He was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather and friend to many. He rolled through life's stages as a student, a soldier, a writer and reporter, a stockbroker, a public servant (Multnomah County Commissioner and then County Executive-Chair), a consultant. He was always an artist. He even got a degree in Art from Pacific Northwest College of Art.
He loved nature - camping, hiking, skiing, long gentle walks. He fed the birds. He whistled and sang. He joked and bantered.
His life was lived well and compassionately. His family will carry him with them until the end of all their days.
Friends wishing to honor him should think a warm thought from time to time. And for those who so wish, contributions in his memory can be sent to the Community Transitional School or to Albina Head Start.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2017 at Oaks Park Pavilion.
For those who want facts: Dennis held degrees in English and Philosophy from the University of Texas-Austin, in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and in Art from PNCA.
His survivors include wife Mary Ann; daughter Catherine; sons Steve and Mark; grandchildren Shelby, Evan, Aubrey, Eliot, Mason and Fletcher; and brother Wayman.
