Barbara JoAnn (Jo) Thomson
Barbara JoAnn (Jo) Thomson was born December 19, 1922 to Harold and Irene (Hodgin) Nichols. She died December 17, 2017. Jo grew up in Newberg, Oregon with sisters Meredith (Jim) Apperson, Nancy Morley, and Margaret Chapman, and attended Newberg High School.
She married Cameron Pearson in 1943; they had sons Jon, Jeff (Kathy), and Todd (Heather). In 1968, she married Charles (Chuck) Thomson; they had daughter BJ. Step-children include Ron (Bobbi), Nancy (Scott) Gram, Tami Forrester, and Theresa (Spencer) Rothweiler. Jo had 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She attended St. Catherines Catholic Church in Canby, and St. Thomas in Redmond.
Jo embraced simplicity and self sufficiency. She was an accomplished seamstress, artist, and photographer — she won "The Oregonian's" annual photo contest in more than one category. She enjoyed helping Chuck with a large garden and maintaining their yard and landscaping. She understood the value of leaving a light footprint on the Earth before it became considered important. Jo will be missed and remembered fondly by her family and those that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; her sister Margaret; and granddaughter Josie Pearson.
A private graveside service was held December 21 in Valley View Cemetery. Arrangements were by Attrell's Funeral Chapels, www.Attrells.com.
