Sam Cardwell, 90, and a Tigard resident, passed away on March 9, 2018. He was born to Walter and Ada Cardwell on May 22, 1927 in Seymour, Missouri. He lived there until the age of 17, when the family moved to Newberg, Oregon. He worked in the hop farms in St. Paul, when he arrived in Oregon. He later met his wife Helen and they moved to Portland, Oregon where he worked for Freightliner Trucks until his retirement in 1989, after working there for 28 years.
Sam was an avid Fisherman, and especially enjoyed fishing and camping with his Grandchildren. He also enjoyed his hunting trips with family and friends. He loved to garden and shared his bounty with everyone from his home in Tigard. Sam loved to share his wealth of knowledge and life experiences with everyone. His kindness and sweet smile will be greatly missed by all of us.
Sam is survived by his dear wife Helen (Sprecher) of 69 years; son Dennis Cardwell, Tigard; daughters, Leta Cook, Tualatin, and Michele Crisman, Newberg; grandsons, Todd Cook, Hillsboro and Taylor Crisman, Newberg; brother, Bill Cardwell, Portland; and numerous other family and friends.
The family hopes you can plan to attend A Celebration of Life, being held in the Service Center of The Seventh Day Adventist Church, 530 E. Edgewood Drive, Newberg, Oregon on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 4pm.
