CENTRAL OREGONIAN - Carl Arthur Dennis Carl Arthur Dennis was born Jan. 19, 1962, in Texas, "Must have Been a Beautiful Baby." He went to Heaven on July 2, 2017, surrounded by loved ones.

Carl was raised primarily in Mitchell and John Day. Carl graduated from Grant Union High School in 1980.

Carl developed a love of the outdoors at an early age. He loved to fish and archery hunt. A love that he passed down to his son. His greatest hunting conquest happened in 1980, when he shot a Boone & Crockett record elk with his bow at age 18. He also loved to shoot guns, anything to get him out in the woods, or on the river, his happy places.

Carl was a hard worker his entire life, taking great pride in whatever job he did, whether butchering, working at a mill, or maintenance on a school.

Carl loved to travel and spent time every summer at the Snake River, fishing or making cast iron pies on the campfire. Carl also enjoyed whale watching and snorkeling with sea turtles in Maui.

Carl's greatest joy was his family. On Nov. 23, 1985, Carl married the love of his life, Kristi. With this union, he gained two children, which he loved and raised as his own. Carl loved his new role as dad and really enjoyed having a son to teach how to fish and hunt. In 2013, Carl became a Pee-Paw. He loved his three grandchildren more than anything, making them treasure chests full of gold and silver dollars.

Carl was preceded in death by his mom, Dorothy; Papa, "Alabam" Dennis; parents, Art Jackson (Laverne) and Bonnie Hintz; and mother-in-law, Sharon Lunyou, all of whom welcomed him home.

Carl is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kristi; daughter, Tasha (Ken); son, Ryan (Heather); grandbabies Qwynn, Ryker and Shaw; father-in-law, Bob; brother-in-law, Bobby; sisters, Dorothy, Juanita, Joyce, Barb, Kathy, Christina and Rebecca; brothers, Billy, Fred, Mike, David and Johnny; best friend, Bill; lots of family, friends, and his dog, Piper.

The family would like to thank the community of Mitchell for all of your support through Carl's illness.
