PTFC For Peace soccer match rosters are set

Let the analysis —and the wagering? — begin.

The rosters are set for the historic inter-club PTFC for Peace soccer match, set for Wednesday, April 27 at Providence Park.

A draft conducted on Thursday established the rosters for Team Blue and Team Yellow for the match, which will pit teams of both Timbers and Thorns players against each other in a charity contest.

The 60-minute match is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tickets are free and can be secured through Timbers.com or ThornsFC.com. Donations are encouraged. Money raised will be donated to UNICEF to assist its efforts in Ukraine and neighboring countries. The club will match all donations up to $100,000.

Team Blue is captained by the Timbers Diego Chara and the Thorns Kelli Hubly. They had had the first pick in each round. Team Yellow is captained by Sebastian Blanco and Christine Sinclair.

The teams drafted Thorns and Timbers players in alternating rounds. The first-round picks were Sophia Smith for Team Blue and Rocky Rodriguez for Team Yellow. The first Timbers players selected were Larrys Mabiala for Team Blue and Yimmi Chara for Team Yellow.

On the streamed portion of the draft, Diego Chara said this will be the first time the brothers have played against each other in a match.
