Bits & Pieces: 400 readers, 10 hours

In ancient Greece fashion, a collection of 400 people of all ages and backgrounds will take part in a reading of the Trojan War epic “Iliad” at the Portland Art Museum Fields Ballroom, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. Each person will read a passage in their own way and language during the course of 10 hours, their common aim to add to the celebration of PAM’s “The Body Beautiful in Ancient Greece” exhibit, which features Greek and Roman sculpture from The British Museum.

The reading will be accompanied with on-stage projections of archaic and classical images from the PAM and The Readers of Homer archives.

Tickets are available at portlandmuseum.org ($15 adults, $5 students).

Lomong honored

Lopez established the Lopez Lomong Foundation in 2011 to give back to his native country; he’s hoping to raise $250,000 by January to provide clean water, basic health care, children’s education and lifesaving nutrition.
