Not just Irish eyes will be smiling around city

Several places in town host St. Patrick’s Day parties. Here’s a sampling of what’s happening Monday, March 17:

• Hanz Araki, an Irish-Japanese flute player and singer, plays the Alberta Street Pub, 1036 N.E. Alberta St., from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Info: 503-284-7665, www.albertastreetpub.com.

• The All-Ireland Cultural Society’s festival takes place from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Ambridge Event Center, 376 N.E. Clackamas Ave. Pipers and drummers, as well as the Ceili and Cul an Ti bands and the Tir Eoghain and Molly Malone dancers, perform. $10 for 21 and older, $5 for 12-20, free for 11 and younger with paying adult. • Biddy McGraw’s, 6000 N.E. Glisan St., hosts music and dancing from noon to 1:30 a.m. Due to play: Irish-folk-country band Castletown; Celtic quartet St. James’s Gate; folk-Irish and “sci-fi” band Garden Goat; Crom Duv, aka Owens, Liebert, Kuhn and Lane; Irish group the Stomptowners; the Eliza Bob Trio; and The Chancers. • County Cork Public House, 1329 N.E. Fremont St., hosts shows: from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 14, with Brendan Fitzgerald and Danny O’Hanlon; from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 15, with St. James Gate, Mikey Beglan, Nancy Conescu and Geraldine Murray; from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 16, with Kinvarra; and from 4 p.m. to close on March 17 with The Stomptowners, Mikey Beglan and Brendan Fitzgerald and Danny O’Hanlon. • Paddy’s Bar & Grill, 65 S.W. Yamhill St. The pub’s festivities kick off with pipers and live Irish music on Friday night, followed by a tent party at 5 p.m. Saturday featuring Grammy-winning saxophonist Patrick Lamb. The tent opens at 8 a.m. Sunday, March 16.
