Portland offers a host of opportunities to ring in 2016 in our music clubs. Best of all, TriMet buses, trains and trolleys are free between 8 p.m. till around 3 a.m., so you can drink and not drive. For early planning, here’s a sample of what’s out there in live music on Thursday, Dec. 31:

• Funky soul-hip-hop outfit Dirty Revival shares a bill with garage-soul band Brownish Black at 9 p.m. at the Secret Society Ballroom, 116 N.E. Russell St. $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Info: 503-493-3600, www.secretsociety.net.

• Rockin’ slamgrass jam band Leftover Salmon, including Little Feat’s Bill Payne, headline a rollicking bill with folk-rock-soul band Fruition as well as Payne and Skerik, a Seattle electro-saxophonist, and the LoveBomb Go-Go Marching Band, at 8 p.m. at the Roseland Theatre, 10 N.W. Sixth Ave. $40, $60. Info:  971-230-0033, www.roselandpdx.com.

• Portland’s most sophisticated band Pink Martini shares the stage with the Portland Youth Philharmonic for 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. shows at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1037 S.W. Broadway St. Tickets range from $37 to $98. Info: 503-248-4335, www.portland5.com/arlene-schnitzer-concert-hall.

• Fans of blues, rock, swing and just plain good-time music should consider spending New Year’s Eve with award-winning guitarist Robbie Laws, Big Monti Amundson, Rae Gordon, Rich Layton, Jeff Frankel and Jim Solberg at Duff’s Garage, 2530 N.E. 82nd Ave. Gordon will be raising funds for charity by giving away midnight smooches for a buck apiece. $15 or $25 per couple. Info: 503-234-2337, www.duffsgarage.com.

• And for those of you crazy enough to continue the party on Friday, Jan. 1, we suggest checking out the Uprite Dub Orchestra reunion show at 8:30 p.m. at the Secret Society, 116 N.E. Russell St. This six-piece band plays reggae, ska, dub and hip hop, and its members have been on hiatus since 2008, doing various projects. Dancehall DJ Cansaman shares the bill. $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Info: 503-493-3600, www.secretsociety.net.
