Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival

Festa Italiana

It's everything Italy in Pioneer Courthouse Square in the annual event — food, dancing, wine and beer, children's activities and vendors — celebrating Italian-American culture.

Dahlia Festival

Swan Island Dahlias, 995 N.W. 22nd Ave. in Canby, hosts the event, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Monday, Aug. 26-28 and Sept. 2-4. There'll be floral growing/arrangement demonstrations and talks on dahlia culture, as well as 40 acres of dahlias in full bloom, along with wine, food and music. For more: www.dahlias.com.

Cirque du Soleil

The circus troupe stops at Expo Center, 2060 N. Marine Drive, for shows through October with "Kurios — Cabinet of Curiosities." Overwhelming demand justified the extension through Oct. 8. It opens Aug. 24, and tickets can be purchased at www.cirquedusoleil.com/kurios.

Hood to Coast Relay

It's sold out, but you can be a spectator and help cheer on the thousands of runners and walkers who team up to go 198 miles from Mount Hood to Seaside, Friday-Saturday, Aug. 25-26. The relay cuts through the suburbs and Portland; also watch for traffic changes. For more: www.hoodtocoastrelay.com.

The Oregon State Fair takes place Aug. 25-Sept. 4 at Oregon State Fairgrounds, 2330 17th St. N.E. in Salem. Hours are 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Aug. 25-26, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Aug. 27-31, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Sept. 1-3 and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sept. 4. Admission is $2-$8, with passes $37.50-$50. Hawthorne Street Fair

The annual free event, taking place on Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard between 31st and 41st streets in the "shop local" district, features music, beverages, food, family activities and vendors. Portland Taco Festival

The first-time event is tabbed as "Portland's largest celebration of the taco," with top taco vendors, tequila, music, lucha libre wrestling, chihuahua beauty contest, live game shows and more.
