The sophomore linebacker from Jesuit had 19 tackles, 10 unassisted, in a 56-20 win over Lewis & Clark.

Volleyball

by: COURTESY OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY - Kelsey Kai, a 5-5 junior from Reynolds High, earned league defensive specialist of the week honors last week playing volleyball for the Concordia Cavaliers, who are 9-4 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play and tied for third place.• Concordia's Jackie Stein, hitter; Kelsey Kai, libero; Lindsay Mangan, setter (Cascade Collegiate Conference)

Stein, a freshman from Westview High, averaged 4.57 kills per set in a 2-0 weekend for the Cavaliers.

Kai, a junior out of Reynolds, totaled 49 digs.

Mangan, the conference assists leader, had 46 and 41 in the matches.

• Oregon's Alaina Bergsma, offense (Pac-12)

Her 23 kills led the Ducks to a 3-1 home win over previously undefeated Washington.

This week's national rankings have Penn State No. 1, Stanford 2, Oregon 3, Washington 5, UCLA 6 and USC 7.

Men's soccer

• Concordia's Septi Danciu, offense (CCC)

The junior from Romania got his fifth game-winning goal (PK) of the year as the 17th-ranked Cavs (9-0-0 league) beat host Corban 1-0. He then had two assists in a 4-1 win at Evergreen.

Cross-country

• Matt Klein, Puget Sound, and Emily Thomas, Lewis & Clark (Northwest Conference)

Klein, a senior from Wilson High, led all collegians at the L&C Invitational.

Thomas, a senior, won the women's race by nearly 30 seconds.
