Rams run away with a win heading into district
Central dominates in final duals against the top teams in the Mount Hood Conference
TROUTDALE The three top teams in the Mount Hood Conference converged at Reynolds High on Wednesday to wrap up the 2012 dual-meet season. But there was little cause for alarm for the Central Catholic boys, who packed six racers in the top 10 to dominate the talented field.
The Rams Kyle Thompson broke free from the lead group at the first mile marker and spent most of the race on his own, covering the flat 5K course in 15:49. Sam Lomax and Daniel Thompson joined him in the top five, as Central won the meet by 34 points over runner-up Barlow.
On the girls side, Central Catholics Maggie Riley finished second in 20:27 coming in 10 seconds behind race-winner Emily Trosino of Reynolds. The Rams finished last among the four teams competing with Reynolds winning the meet.
The MHC district championships are Wednesday at Centennial High.
