Tri-City turns it on, defeats Winterhawks 4-2

KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Portland Winterhawks gave up four unanswered goals Tuesday as they lost 4-2 at Tri-City.

Portland (51-10-1-2) has a quick turnaround, with a 7 p.m. Wednesday game at Memorial Coliseum against Edmonton, the club that beat the Hawks in last year's Western Hockey League finals and is leading the Eastern Conference this season.

Tri-City (37-22-1-2) trailed 2-0 on goals by Portland's Shaun MacPherson late in the first period and Ty Rattie (his 40th) at 5:39 of the second period.

The Americans tied the score with goals later in the middle frame.

Tri-City went ahead with two goals about two minutes apart during the first half of the third period.
