Still tied: Co-league leaders Thorns, Sky Blue go 0-0

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — They came into the game tied for first place in the National Women's Soccer League.

They left the game tied for first, each one point — but no goals — richer.

Portland Thorns FC and Sky Blue FC played to a 0-0 standstill Saturday at Yurcak Field on the Rutgers University campus.

Both teams are 8-2-2 and have 26 points after 12 games of the 22-game inaugural NWSL season.LEBLANC

Third place belongs to the Western New York Flash (5-2-3, 18 points).

Sky Blue led in shots 20-10 and 6-4 on corner kicks and threatened some through stoppage time, but Thorns goalie Karina LeBlanc continually denied them. She finished with seven saves.

For Portland, Alex Morgan had three shots, one on goal, and Tiffany Weimer put three of her four shots on goal, but Christine Sinclair, who came out after 73 minutes for Danielle Foxhoven, did not have a shot.

Sky Blue keeper Brittany Cameron made five saves.
