Hops split twinbill at Everett

EVERETT AQUASOX 3, HILLSBORO HOPS 1

HILLSBORO 7, EVERETT 1

Saturday night doubleheader (seven-inning games) at Everett Memorial Stadium

THE STORY

ESQUERRAHillsboro won the nightcap, taking advantage of sloppy Everett play in the top of the sixth inning. Ryan Kinsella led off the Hops sixth with a tying home run. Three walks and an infield error put Hillsboro ahead 2-1. A wild pitch brought home another run, and then Zachary Esquerra hit a two-run single.

In the first game, Seattle Mariners first-round draft pick D.J. Peterson hit a first-pitch fastball in the bottom of the sixth out of the park — a three-run home run that led to Everett's 3-1, seven-inning victory.
