THE STORY

Boise broke a four-game losing streak in the first game, but Hillsboro responded in the nightcap.

WHAT IT MEANS

The series is tied 1-1 with one game remaining.

Boise remained one game ahead of Hillsboro in the Class A Northwest League South Division.

The Hops improved to 2-8 on the road.

TOP HOPS

NELSON• Catcher Grant Nelson and third baseman Randy McCurry each had a two-out RBI in the nightcap.

• Daniel Gibson (1-0) got Hillsboro's victory with two scoreless innings of middle relief. He struck out four, walked none and allowed two hits. Starter Karl Triana worked four innings, giving up five hits, two runs (both earned), with three strikeouts and two walks. A save went to Will Locante (his first of the season), after he didn't allow a hit, walk or run in the seventh, striking out one batter.

NOTES

• In the first game, Boise got the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the last (seventh) inning via a wild throw by third baseman Jordan Parr on Jacob Hannemann's bunt single. Scoring for Boise were David Bote, who was hit by a pitch leading off the fram, and Carlos Penalver, who followed with a bunt single to third.

• In the nightcap, Boise led 2-0 after three innings, but the Hops scored all their runs in the top of the fourth. The Hawks made three infield errors, two throwing, in the inning.
