Vancouver rallied for the victory, which gave the Canadians a 3-2 win in the series.
WHAT IT MEANS
The Hops failed to claim their first two-game winning streak of the Class A Northwest League season.
Seven Hillsboro players had at least one hit; Josh Parr, Ryan Gebhardt and Elvin Soto each had two.
Five Hops had an RBI: Parr, Jordan Parr, Soto, Randy McCurry and Taylor Ratliff.
Hillsboro scored twice in the bottom of the second inning to lead 2-0. Vancouver tied it with two runs in the third and went in front 4-2 in the fourth.
The Hops responded with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to lead 5-4.
But the Canadians came back, scoring one run in the seventh and taking the lead for good in the eighth with three runs, including a two-out, two-run triple by Dickie Thon.
Hillsboro scored once in the ninth on three singles and a wild pitch.
Ross Gerdeman (0-2), the second of three Hops pitchers, took the loss. He went four innings and gave up four runs, all earned, on five hits and four walks, with four strikeouts.
Hillsboro starter Jose Martinez also pitched four innings. He allowed four runs, all earned, on three hits and three walks, with three strikeouts. He gave up a pair of home runs and saw his ERA go to 5.40.
The Hops' only extra-base hit was a double by George Roberts, whose leadoff hit in the second helped Hillsboro take the early lead.
Vancouver climbed to 15-10 in the NWL North Division. The Canadians are in second place, three games behind Everett and one ahead of Spokane.
