MLS club picks up options on 9

Fair news for six other players: The team has offered them new deals or is negotiating with them.

Bad news for four others: The club has chosen not to keep them.

The nine players who had their contract options exercised by the front office: Will Johnson, Rodney Wallace, Mamdou "Futty" Danso, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Pa Modou Kah, Michael Nanchoff, Ben Zemanski and Jake Gleeson.

Offers went to Ryan Johnson, Sal Zizzo, Milos Kocic and Brad Ring. (The team also is in contract talks with Frederic Piquionne and Sebastian Rincon).

The two players who had their contract options declined by the club: David Horst and Ryan Miller.

Waived by the Timbers: Brent Richards and Dylan Tucker-Gangnes.

That leaves a tentative 2014 Timbers roster of:

Forwards — Maximiliano Urruti, Jose Valencia

Midfielders — Kalif Alhassan, Diego Chara, Steven Evans, Will Johnson, Darlington Nagbe, Michael Nanchoff, Diego Valeri, Rodney Wallace, Ben Zemanski

Defenders — Futty Danso, Michael Harrington, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Jack Jewsbury, Pa Modou Kah, Rauwshan McKenzie, Alvas Powell, Mikael Silvestre

Goalkeepers — Jake Gleeson, Donovan Ricketts
