SCORESHEET: No settlement, and Lyerla can't train in Vegas

For the second consecutive day, defense and prosecution failed to reach a settlement agreement in the Colt Lyerla cocaine possession case.

The parties met for nearly two hours Tuesday in a private chamber at Lane County Circuit Court, but no resolution was reached in the case involving former Oregon Ducks tight end Lyerla, of Hillsboro, who was arrested Oct. 23 for unlawful possession of cocaine and interfering with a police officer.

The parties will reconvene on Dec. 27 for a further settlement conference.

Earlier in the day, a motion that would allow Lyerla to prepare for the upcoming NFL draft in Las Vegas was denied by Lane County Circuit Judge Jay A. McCalpin.

Had it been accepted, Lyerla planned to train with Performance Athletics in Nevada, according to the request.

Lyerla could still make the move if his cocaine possession charge is settled.
