Portland State's DJ Adams ran for two touchdowns as the American team beat the National squad 20-3 Saturday in the Medal of Honor Bowl All-Star Game at Charleston, S.C.
Adams scored from 19 yards and 1 yard in the second half. He finished with 22 yards rushing on 13 carries, with the American team getting 84 yards on the ground on 32 attempts.
No. 12 Oregon State scored 195.200 to open its season and won a three-team meet at No. 19 Ohio State. The Beavers outscored the Buckeyes on three events as they rallied in the final rotation forvictories over Ohio State (194.750) and Bowling Green (191.950).
With the sweep, OSU coach Tanya Chaplin tied the school record with 317 career wins, matching Jim Turpin, who coached the Beavers from 1986-97.
No. 24 Oregon State beat No. 21 host Stanford 21-14.
The Cardinal led 14-9 before OSU won the last three bouts, with Joe Latham (174) earning a 9-4 decision at 174 pounds, Austin Morehead winning by fall at 184 and Taylor Meeks clinching the team victory with a 5-1 decision.
