UCLA edged Oregon State 66-63 on Monday afternoon, giving the Bruins nine wins in a row over the Beavers.
The Bruins improved to 4-3 in the Pac-12, while Oregon State fell to 2-4. Overall, the Bruins are 10-9, the Beavers 10-8.
Ruth Hamblin, OSU's 6-6 sophomore center, had 19 points and six rebounds. Guards Sydney Wiese and Jamie Weisner added 17 and nine points, respectively. Wiese also had five assists and six rebounds. Weisner had 12 boards.
It was a close game throughout, with UCLA leading 30-28 at the half and most of the day, and the teams never more than six points apart.
The Bruins made one of two free throws with 34.5 seconds remaining to boost their lead to 64-60.
Wiese was fouled on a driving shot with 24.4 seconds to go, and she sank one of two foul shots.
OSU fouled quickly on a fullcourt press, and UCLA went in front 65-61 with one of two at the line.
Oregon State forward Deven Hunter muscled in a close-range shot at the 10.5-second mark, but missed the chance at a three-point play.
OSU fouled intentionally on the rebound, and with 8.7 seconds remaining the Bruins tacked on a free throw.
The Beavers rebounded, but Wiese missed a 3-pointer off the dribble just before the final buzzer.
