MEN'S COLLEGE HOOPS: Danny Miles goes for win 1,000 Friday at Northwest Christian
OIT falls at home to league-leader College of Idaho
No. 14 College of Idaho denied Oregon Tech men's basketball coach Danny Miles his 1,000th career victory at home on Saturday.
C of I downed the Owls 79-65 at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech's next game will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Luke Jackson-coached Northwest Christian in Eugene. The Owls then go to Corban for a 7:30 p.m. game on Friday, Feb. 1.
Northwest Christian is 12-9 overall and 6-5 in the CCC. Corban is 6-14, 2-9 CCC.
Miles, in his 43rd season at Oregon Tech, is 999-408. He is seeking to become only the second coach in men's basketball history at a four-year school to reach 1,000. Harry Statham of McKendree University, who is in his 48th season, has 1,076 victories and counting.
C of I, which leads the CCC at 9-2, pulled away in the final 13 minutes on Saturday.
Miles' Owls had given him victory No. 999 on Friday, as OIT defeated Eastern Oregon 81-60 at Klamath Falls.
With Saturday's defeat, OIT fell to 12-11 overall this season and 5-6 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
College of Idaho is 18-5 overall and 9-2 in the CCC.
