SATURDAY SUMMARY

Portland State let a 10-point lead slip in the second half and lost 69-64 at Montana State to go 0-2 for their Big Sky road trip.

Hard-luck, struggling Oregon suffered another close loss, 74-72 at Arizona State.

  • Vikings go cold in Bozeman

PSU's chances for a split in the state of Montana were looking good with 12:28 remaining and the Vikings on top 51-43. But the Bobcats went on a 20-4 run and stayed in front, going 6 of 6 at the free-throw line down the stretch.

The Viks committed only eight turnovers but shot 38.3 percent.

"How many little 2-footers did we miss tonight? It was unbelievable," coach Tyler Geving said.

    Montana State shot 47.1 percent.

WINSTONGary Winston led Portland State with 14 points. Marcus Hall and DaShaun Wiggins each had 12 points, and Kyle Richardson gave the Vikings 11 points and 11 rebounds.

PSU dropped to 6-6 in the Big Sky and 11-10 for the season. The Vikings are tied for sixth with MSU (6-6, 11-12). Sacramento State is 5-6, and Eastern Washington and Idaho State are 5-7.

Weber State leads by three games at 10-2, and four teams — Northern Colorado, Montana (which beat the Vikings on Thursday), North Dakota and Northern Arizona are 7-5.

  • Ducks lose at ASU

Things can't get much tougher on the University of Oregon team, which suffered another narrow defeat on Saturday afternoon.

Arizona State big man Jordan Bachynski blocked a reverse layup attempt by Joseph Young at the buzzer as the Sun Devils held off Oregon 74-72 in Tempe.

Young scored all 29 of his points in the second half, but the Ducks lost for the fourth time by two points in Pac-12 play.

Oregon is 3-8 in the conference, 15-8 overall. ASU is 7-4, 18-6.

    Bachynski scored a career-high 26 points.
