Feb. 19, 1957: GREYHOUND RACING COMING TO FAIRVIEW

by: TRIBUNE FILE PHOTO: KYLE GREEN - Greyhounds race through a turn at Multnomah Greyhound Park, formerly Multnomah Kennel Club, in 2004, the track's final season.Architects are working on, and studying their blueprints for, a greyhound racing track in Fairview to be called Multnomah Kennel Club.

The track, built on 90-plus acres, will open later in the year.

Greyhound races had taken place at Multnomah Stadium in previous years, with some racing held briefly at Portland Meadows.

But MKC provides a greyhound-only facility with seating capacity for more than 6,000 and room for more than 18,000 people.

Racing would continue there through 2004.
