WILSON BOYS CLIP CARDINALS; GRANT, LINCOLN GIRLS STAY UNDEFEATED IN PORTLAND INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE
The Wilson Trojans won their third Portland Interscholastic League game in a row on Friday night, putting themselves into a tie for second place.
The Trojans upended rival Lincoln 79-76 at Lincoln.
Jefferson stayed atop the PIL and improved to 5-0 with a 72-42 victory at home against Franklin.
Grant rebounded from a loss at Cleveland, winning 88-63 at Benson. Grant also is 4-1.
Roosevelt won at Madison, 77-64.
Lincoln and Franklin are 3-3 in the PIL, with Cleveland and Roosevelt 2-3, Madison 1-5 and Benson 0-5.
In the Metro League, Jesuit defeated host Southridge 72-43.
The Crusaders are 2-1 in the Metro. Beaverton and Westview are off to 3-0 starts. Southridge slipped to 0-3.
Clackamas beat visiting Central Catholic 66-63 in a key Mt. Hood Conference game, and Reynolds prevailed in overtime at home against David Douglas, 73-71.
Clackamas leads the MHC at 4-0. Central Catholic and Oregon City are 3-1. David Douglas has dropped to 2-2, and Reynolds is 1-3.
Parkrose picked up a vital victory in the Class 5A Northwest Oregon Conference. The Broncos went to Milwaukie and won 67-59.
Parkrose lifted its NWOC record to 3-1. Liberty leads at 5-1, and Wilsonville is 4-1. Milwaukie fell to 3-2.
In the 3A Lewis & Clark League, first-place De La Salle North Catholic won 75-59 at home against Rainier, and Catlin Gabel won at home 90-55 over Riverdale.
De La Salle climbed to 7-1 in league, with Catlin Gabel and Portland Adventist Academy sharing second at 6-2, Rainier fourth at 5-3 and Riveradle fifth at 4-3.
Portland Waldorf defeated visiting North Clackamas Christian 61-46 in 1A Valley 10 League play.
Portland Waldorf improved to 2-2 in the league, good for third place out of six teams.
Portland Interscholastic League pacesetters Lincoln and Grant turned back their challengers again on Friday.
Lincoln downed visiting Wilson 61-40, and Grant got a 43-32 road victory against Benson.
Jefferson won 56-45 at home versus Franklin, and Roosevelt took care of host Madison 58-35.
Lincoln improved to 6-0 in the PIL, while Grant climbed to 5-0.
Benson and Cleveland are 3-2. Jefferson and Roosevelt are 2-3. Madison is 2-4, Wilson 1-4 and Franklin 0-6.
Jesuit won 53-44 against Southridge in a Metro League game at Jesuit.
The Crusaders have sole possession of first place at 3-0. Southridge, Sunset and Century are 2-1.
Central Catholic lost at Clackamas, 59-29, in Mt. Hood Conference action.
Oregon City leads the MHC with a 4-0 record. Clackamas and Central Catholic are 3-1, tied for second with Barlow.
In the Three Rivers League, Lake Oswego triumphed at home against St. Marys Academy, beating the Blues 68-39.
SMA slipped to 2-4 in the TRL. LO also is 2-4.
Parkrose dropped an 83-39 decision at home against Milwaukie in the 5A Northwest Oregon Conference.
The Broncos are 0-4 in league. Milwaukie is 3-2.
In the 3A Lewis & Clark League, Riverdale scored a 50-40 road win versus Catlin Gabel, and De La Salle North Catholic pulled out a win at overtime, topping the visitors from Rainier, 40-37.
Riverdale improved to 3-4 in league, while De La Salle went to 3-5. Catlin Gabel fell to 5-3, tied with Rainier for third place behind 8-0 Portland Christian and 7-1 Portland Adventist Academy.
Portland Waldorf fell at home to North Clackamas Christian 37-30.
Portland Waldorf slipped to 0-4 in the 1A Valley 10 League. North Clackamas Christian went to 2-0.
