Oregon State 85, USC 70, at Gill Coliseum

Gary Payton II was the story as he led the Beavers over the Trojans in Corvallis.

Payton, a 6-3 senior guard from Seattle, had game highs of 22 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists and four steals. The rebound mark tied his season high.

OSU snapped a three-game skid and improved to 12-6 overall, 3-4 in the Pac-12.

The Trojans slipped to 15-5, 4-3 before the Oregon State crowd of 7,020.

Freshman Tres Tinkle had 18 points and seven rebounds for OSU, while freshman forward Drew Eubanks from Reynolds had 12 points, four rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

OSU came on strong in the second half, outscoring USC 49-30 while holding the Trojans to 34 percent from the field, after trailing 36-29 at halftime.


    Oregon State 61, Colorado 47, at Boulder, Colo.

    The Beavers, ranked as high as eighth in the nation, handled the Buffs at Coors Events Center to get to 16-3 for the season and 7-1 in the Pac-12.

    Colorado dropped to 5-14, 0-8.

    Senior center Ruth Hamblin led the way for the visitors with a season-high 20 points.

    She was 8 of 12 from the field and added seven rebounds and two blocks.

    Guard Jamie Weisner got her 12th consecutive double-digit scoring game, going for 14 points.

    Oregon 77, Utah 65, at Salt Lake City

    At the Huntsman Center, the Ducks got a double-digit lead early and went on to third their win in a row.

    Oregon (14-5 overall, 3-5 Pac-12) got its first road weekend conference sweep since 2008-09, having topped Colorado earlier on the trip.

    Jillian Alleyne’s 26 points and 12 rebounds — her 85th double-double as a Duck — led Oregon, as she tied the Pac-12 career record set by Chiney Ogwumike of Stanford.

    Lexi Petersen scored 18 points for the Ducks, with 11 in the fourth quarter.

    Utah fell to 12-7, 4-4.
