COURTESY: BRYAN HEIM/PORTLAND WINTERHAWKS - Portland's Alex Schoenborn battles in front of the next with Tri-City defenseman Parker Wotherspoon as the Winterhawks' Rihards Bukarts looks to shoot during Sunday night's Western Hockey League game, won 4-3 by the Hawks at Moda Center. The Portland Winterhawks recovered from a shutout and won the final two games of the weekend, beating Tri-City 4-3 Sunday at Moda Center in Western Hockey League play.

The Hawks had split two games with Seattle, losing 3-0 on Friday and then rallying from 2-0 down to win 5-2 on Saturday.

It was a tight game for the Hawks (25-21-2-0) against the Americans (20-25-2-0), coached by former Portland player and coach Mike Williamson. Literally, the teams alternated goals.

Caleb Jones' one-timer goal after a couple Adin Hill point-blank saves put Portland up, but Beau McCue tied it with 44.7 seconds left in the first period.

Portland's Blake Heinrich wired a shot past goalie Evan Sarthou at 2:52 of the second period, but Jordan Topping tied it with a shorthanded goal later in the period.

Hawks captain Dominic Turgeon stole the puck, raced down the ice and beat Sarthou at 1:58 of the third, shorthanded. The Ams tied it 1:22 later on the same penalty, with Topping beating Hill.

But Alex Schoenborn, who had a hat trick on Saturday, found a narrow opening and beat Sarthou at 10:53.

The Hawks play at Kelowna, 7 p.m Friday, and Kamloops, 7 p.m. Saturday.
