Thorns book preseason tourney matchups

The Portland Thorns have announced that they’ll play Oregon State and the Seattle Reign in a five-team, six-game preseason tournament March 27 to April 2 at Providence Park.

On Sunday, March 27, Portland will face Seattle at 5 p.m. The Houston Dash, also of the National Women’s Soccer League, will take on OSU in the tourney opener at 2:30 p.m.

On Wedesday, March 30, Seattle will play Houston at 5 p.m., and the Thorns will kick off against Oregon State at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, April 2, Seattle and OSU will play at 2:30 p.m., with Portland and Houston meeting at 5 p.m.

ALLEYNE GETS PAC-12 HONORALLEYNE

Jillian Alleyne, University of Oregon senior, is the Pac-12 women’s basketball player of the week.

She led the Ducks to victories over Colorado, 59-49, and Utah, 77-65, on the road with two double-doubles that tied the Pac-12 career record of 85 set by Stanford’s Chiney Ogwumike.

Alleyne had 14 points and 15 rebounds versus Colorado, then 26 points and 12 rebounds against the Utes.

The 6-3 forward from Fontana, Calif., ranks third in the country in rebounds per game (13.5) this season.
