Blazers win at Houston


The Trail Blazers picked up a key win Saturday in the NBA Western Conference race for lower-level playoff berths.

Portland dominated Houston early and beat the Rockets 96-79 at Houston’s Toyota Center. The Blazers led by as many as 32 points.

Guard Damian Lillard led six Blazers in double figures with 21 points, and he had a game-high 10 assists.

Guards CJ McCollum and sub Gerald Henderson added 16 points apiece, with starting forwards Moe Harkless getting 14 and Al Farouq-Aminu going for 11, with seven rebounds. Center Mason Plumlee scored 10 points.

Guard James Harden of Houston led all scorers with 33 points and added eight rebounds, but had 10 turnovers.

The Blazers improved to 25-27, while the Rockets fell to 27-26.
