Thorns open at home



The Portland Thorns’ 20-game National Women’s Soccer League season will start at home.

Portland will open under new coach Mark Parsons on Sunday, April 17, facing the expansion Orlando Pride at 7 p.m. at Providence Park.

The Thorns then will play four in a row away before returning for matches on May 21 against the Washington Spirit and May 29 with the Seattle Reign.

Seattle will return to Portland on July 30.

The Thorns’ final regular-season home game is Sept. 11 against the Western New York Flash.

Portland’s finale is Sept. 25 at Sky Blue.
