Pac-12 honors OSU pitcher
Oregon State Beavers pitcher Max Engelbrekt has been named the Pac-12's Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The conference announced that on Monday, as the Beavers prepared to go to Omaha, Nebraska for the College World Series.
Engelbrekt helped get them there, making 16 appearances this season and going 3-0.
He is the first OSU player to win this award since it began in 2008.
From Seattle, Engelbrekt is going for a masters in business administration and had a 3.63 grade-point average through winter term.
He has a bachelor's degree in finance.
The senior left-hander, 6-3 and 205 pounds, has played in 80 career games, with an 11-5 record and 1.97 ERA.
He is tied for third all-time at Oregon State in saves, with 22.
