The Seattle Mariners filled up the stat sheet Tuesday, exploding for 19 hits in a 14-3 rout of Minnesota at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mitch Haniger, in his second game back from an injury, went 4 for 6 with four runs scored and two RBIs. Nelson Cruz had four RBIs. And, Danny Valencia and Mike Zunino hit solo homers.
Everybody had a hit in the Seattle lineup; Robinson Cano and Guillermo Heredia were the only players with only one hit each. Haniger, Cruz, Kyle Seager, Valencia and Zunino had multiple-RBI games.
Hitting first and second in the lineup, Ben Gamel (three) and Haniger (four) combined to score seven runs. Everybody scored a run except Cano.
Yovani Gallardo was the starter who benefitted from the offensive onslaught — the Mariners led 9-2 after four innings. He gave up seven hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one in six innings.
The Mariners pounded Adalberto Mejia for nine hits and nine runs (eight earned) in 3 2/3 innings.
Seattle (32-33) and Minnesota (32-28) play at 5 p.m. PT Tuesday, with Christian Bergman (3-3, 4.03) taking the hill for Seattle opposite Kyle Gibson (3-4, 6.52).
