Three home runs help visiting AquaSox deny a five-game sweep by Hillsboro, before 5,282; road games next for Hops

The Hillsboro Hops' four-game win streak came to an end on Monday night.

Hillsboro fell short of a five-game sweep of the Everett AquaSox, losing 8-4 before 5,282 fans at Ron Tonkin Field.

Everett improved to 8-11 in the Class A Northwest League North Division.

Hillsboro fell to 10-8 in the NWL South, still one game behind the first-place Eugene Emeralds, who lost 7-2 at Vancouver.ENDRIS

The AquaSox scored six runs in the top of the first inning and added single runs in the second and third for an 8-0 advantage.

The Hops got a run in the fourth, two in the eighth and one in the ninth.

Everett finished with nine hits to eight by the Hops.

Mitchell Aker (0-4) took the loss. He gave up eight runs (three earned) and seven hits (three home runs) in a two-inning start.

Hops center fielder Billy Endris hit a homer in the eighth and was the only Hillsboro player with more than one hit. He went 2 for 4.

Next for the Hops is a two-game visit to Salem-Keizer for meetings at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and then a five-game trip to Spokane.
