After three years, Concordia University in Portland has been approved as a full NCAA Division II member. The Cavaliers will compete in 15 sports at the NCAA D-II level beginning this year.
Before moving to NCAA Division II, Concordia sports were a NAIA member and competed in the Cascade Collegiate Athletic Conference through the 2013-14 academic year.
In anticipation of full approval of the move, the Cavaliers have competed the past two years in the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Ful NCAA Division II status means all Concordia teams and athletes can qualify for NCAA postseason events.
A special event to commemorate the official move to NCAA Division II competition is planned for October 7 in conjunction with scheduled soccer matches.
