Two unbeatens advance at Little League Softball World Series
Pool play in the Little League Softball World Series concluded Sunday with two games that were close and two that were not so close.
Rowan Little League of Salisbury, North Carolina (Southeast) won 10-0 over Major Northwest of Prasha, Czech Republic (Europe-Africa) in Sunday's first game.
Bacolod City of the Philippines (Asia-Pacific) defeated Softball Femenino de Coamo of Puerto Rico (Latin America), 2-1.
Lake Air of Waco, Texas (Southwest) nipped Floyds Knobs Community Club of Indiana (Central), 6-4.
And, in the finale, Cedar National of Cedar City, Utah (West) beat Hampton of Victoria, British Columbia (Canada), 8-1.
Monday's tournament games will be at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
South Beaverton is meeting Cana American of Newark, Delaware, in the first game. The winner will play in the semifinals at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, while the loser goes to a final game at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
One team in each group made it through the pool play undefeated. Rowan and Lake Air each are 4-0 at Alpenrose this week.
Each pool also has one team with a 3-1 record — Canal American and Floyds Knobs.
South Beaverton and Northwest Czech Republic went 2-2 in pool games.
