Ducks roll in men's basketball
The new look Oregon Ducks beat Northwest Christian 124-72 on Monday in an exhibition men's basketball game at Matthew Knight Arena.
Six Ducks scored in double figures led by 25 points from Payton Pritchard, the only returning starter from the team that reached the Final Four last season.
Elijah Brown, a senior transfer from New Mexico, had 22 points and hit 4 of 5 3-pointers.
Freshman Kenny Wooten had 15 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Freshman Troy Brown had nine assists and five points.
Forward Mikyle McIntosh, a senior transfer from Illinois State, had 12 points and four steals. Freshman Victor Bailey Jr. scored 11 points.
The Ducks shot 62 percent from the floor, including 12 of 25 (48 percent) on 3-pointers.
Oregon plays its first counting game on Nov. 10 when Coppin State visits Eugene.
"I think we can have a good offensive team if we make shots for each other. We've got to move it, look for creases, look for places we take advantage of. And our guys haven't figured that out yet. But Troy getting nine assists is a good start," Oregon coach Dana Altman said. "Defensively, I think it showed how far we have to go. The first half, we didn't take anything away; we just wanted to outscore them. I thought out defensive intensity was better in the second half."
