MONDAY LOCAL SPORTS NEWS/Knights awarded Team of the Week after sweep/Oregon women golfers lead WSU/Ducks win acrobatics and tumbling opener

COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Warner Pacific College Knights have been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Team of the Week.

The Knights, coached by Jared Valentine, remained in a tie for second with victories against Northwest Christian, 87-81, and Corban, 70-68.

WPC is 18-7 overall and 12-4 in the CCC and was ranked No. 15 for NAIA Division II in the most-recent poll.

COLLEGE MEN'S WRESTLING

Oregon State improved to 5-5 with a 33–3 dual win at home against Fresno State (4-14).

The Beavers won the first five of 10 matches for a 19-0 lead. Hunter Willits won by fall at 157 pounds in 6:04.

COLLEGE WOMEN'S GOLF

Oregon has a 2-1 lead on Washington State going into Tuesday's second and final day of play in the spring kickoff match at Las Vegas (Nevada) Country Club.

COLLEGE ACROBATICS AND TUMBLING

No. 2-ranked Oregon opened its season with a 267.890-225.180 against Concordia (Wisconsin) at Mequon, Wisconsin.

The margin is the second-largest in UO history.

The Ducks will play host to new Hawaii Pacific at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9. New UO coach Keenyn Won, a former Duck competitor, previously coached Hawaii Pacific.

BLAZERS

Portland finished a trip 0-3, losing 111-91 at Detroit, after defeats to Toronto and Boston.

Blake Griffin led the Pistons with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Damian Lillard paced the Blazers with 20 points.

Next for Portland is a Thursday home game against Charlotte.
