FRIDAY COLLEGE SOFTBALL ROUNDUP/Oregon State wins both its games at Northridge tourney/Portland State drops two in Las Vegas


OREGON 9, Weber State 1 (5 innings)

• Freshman catcher Mary Iakopo's fourth-inning grand slam helped the Ducks win Friday night at Jane Sanders Stadium.IAKOPO

UO had 11 hits, with leadoff batter Jenna Lilley getting three RBIs in a 2-for-2 day with a walk.

Maggie Balint (5-1) allowed three hits and one walk, with six strikeouts, in the five innings.

Other scores Friday from the Oregon Invitational: Montana 7, Bryant 0; Weber State 15, Toledo 6; and Montana 1, Toledo 0.

The No. 6 Ducks (19-4) will face Montana at 7 p.m. Saturday, then play Montana at noon and Bryant at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Weber State is 10-12.

Oregon State 8, Cal State Northridge 3

Oregon State 5, Seattle 0

• Meehra Nelson's two-hit, eight-strikeout pitching helped the Beavers beat Seattle in their afternoon game

at the Cal State Northridge Tournament.

Jessica Garcia was 3 for 4, Sara Lillie 2 for 3 and Shelby Weeks 2 for 4 as OSU (14-8) stretched its win streak to four.

The Beavers began the day by beating the host team with eight runs on six hits and four Northridge errors.

Maiah Mazon (6-4) got that win on 3 2/3 innings of relief.

The Beavers will play two games on Saturday, facing Seattle at 8 a.m. and Texas Tech at 10:30 a.m. Oregon State and Texas Tech will meet again at 8 a.m. Sunday.

New Mexico State 11, Portland State 8

DePaul 5, Portland State 0 (6 innings)

• The Vikings (4-14) went 0 for 2 on the first day of the Rebel Classic at Las Vegas, Nevada.

Both PSU and New Mexico State had 14 hits in their morning game, but the Aggies got the jump with a 7-3 lead after two innings and were able to hold it. Each team left 11 runners on base. Kaela Morrow, Rachel Menlove and Ashley Doyle homered for the Vikings.

DePaul out-hit the Viks 6-2. Menlove got both PSU hits.
