Lillard Time is all night
Damian Lillard was hot against the Miami Heat, and that just about all the Trail Blazers needed to win Sunday night.
Lillard scored a game-high 49 points, two off his career high, in leading Portland to a 115-104 road victory.
He was 9 of 12 from 3-point range, 5 of 9 on 2-pointers and 12 for 12 at the free-throw line, adding five assists.
The Blazers improved to 32-37, while Miami fell to 34-36.
Portland snapped the Heat's seven-game home win and finished its road stretch with a 4-1 record.
Lillard's 3 to cap a 10-2 run gave Portland its largest lead of the first 3 1/2-plus quarters, 104-93, with just under five minutes to play.
After Miami got to within 105-99, Lillard made his ninth 3 of the game. Moments later, Lillard drove for a floater and a free throw, boosting the Blazers' lead to 111-100 with 2:15 remaining — en route to 16 points in the fourth quarter.
CJ McCollum added to the backcourt firepower with 18 points, making 7 of 16 from the floor.
Center Jusuf Nurkic had 21 points (9 of 15 on field goals) and a game-best 12 rebounds.
Starting small forward Noah Vonleh, in 28 minutes, had 11 points and seven rebounds.
