NW Cornelius Pass reopens for evening rush hour
Semi-truck rolls over, damaged power poles
Northwest Cornelius Pass Road reopened shortly before the Tuesday evening rush hour. It had been closed because of an early morning semi-truck rollover accident.
The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries in the accident, which damaged power poles and left debris on the road. The truck was towed from the accident scenes, utility crews were replacing the damaged power poles, and maintenance workers were cleaning up the road by early afternoon.
The driver was cited for violating the Basic Rule against driving faster than conditions allow.
The section of the road between Highway 30 and Northwest Sheltered Nook Road is open to local traffic only. Alternate routes for through traffic include U.S. Highway 26 and, for trucks carrying hazardous loads, Interstate 5 to Highway 217 to Highway 26.
