Craigslist drug dealers turn out to be robbers
Two arrested in marijuana buy gone bad
A man trying to buy marijuana was robbed by two drug dealers he met on Craigslist on Monday.
According to police, at 10:36 a.m. on June 4, North Precinct responded to the report of an armed robbery of a pedestrian at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard. Before the officers arrived, the dispatcher broadcast information about the suspect vehicle, a silver Saturn Ion, last seen fleeing westbound on Sandy Boulevard.
An officer on his way to the robbery saw the vehicle and stopped it at Northeast 41st Avenue and Tillamook Street. There, Edward Boyer, 22, and Aaron Joseph Brenner, 23, were taken into custody.
Police identify the victim as Michael Turnipseed, 26. Turnipseed told officers that he met the suspects through Craigslist and was seeking to buy marijuana. When Turnipseed met the suspects at Northeast 82nd and Sandy, they robbed him of his money at gunpoint.
Officers recovered a handgun, marijuana, and the victim's money from the suspects.
Brenner was charged with robbery in the first degree and Boyer was charged with robbery in the Ffirst degree and delivery of marijuana.
Both were booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
