County ready to sell bridge site for new market
Multnomah County commissioners are set to vote Thursday to approve the sale of the county's parking lot properties at the western foot of the Morrison Bridge to Melvin Mark Development Co. for $10.4 million.
The deal could lead to a new high-rise by Mark along with a street-level project called the James Beard Public Market, a year-round complex of food and drink stalls that could become a major public attraction downtown.
The agreement allows for more than three years of fundraising by the nonprofit group promoting the public market.
