Deputies investigate fatal Aloha shooting
Victim, suspect names not immediately released
A 24-year-old man was shot and killed in Aloha Tuesday night during what Washington County sheriff's deputies are calling a verbal altercation.
Just before 8 p.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Southwest Rosa Road and 183rd Avenue in Aloha to investigate a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies found a man on the side of Southwest Rosa Road near 183rd Avenue.
"The man was deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound," said Sgt. Bob Ray, sheriff's office spokesman.
Deputies talked to a 41-year-old man walking about a block away and learned the two men had been arguing, when the older man reportedly used his handgun to shoot the younger man in the roadway, Ray said.
The names of the men have not been released.
The Washington County Major Crimes Team responded and is assisting in the investigation.
"It is unclear what led up to the shooting," Ray said.
Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to complete a thorough diagram of the scene, and the Washington County Forensics Team assisted with evidence collection and photographs.
