Woman burned in fire at cluttered N. Portland home

A woman in her 60s was rescued early Friday morning from a burning North Portland house that firefighters said was so cluttered they had trouble moving around inside the dwelling.

Portland Fire & Rescue firefighters said the woman was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with second-degree burns. Her name and medical condition have not been released.

Firefighters from the Portsmouth/University Park station were called at about 2:52 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, to the house at 3610 N. Trenton St., which had heavy smoke billowing from inside.

Fire crews went inside and reported that the home was so cluttered that they had difficulty getting around the large piles of belongings. After considerable effort, crews found the source of the fire and extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates have been released.
