Expansion joint problem forces ODOT to close lane on I-5 north
An expansion joint that popped up forced Oregons Department of Transportation to close the northbound left lane of Interstate 5 near the Fremont Bridge.
Northbound traffic at milepost 302 is down to one lane and moving slowly over the metal joint, which joins sections of the highway. ODOT said access to I-5 northbound from the Fremont Bridge has not been impeded.
Crews are trying to repair a 10-by-12-foot section of the expansion joint. ODOT does not know how long it will take to complete the work.
