Auditions are Dec. 1 at Oregon Convention Center

With a carrot worth $1 million, the NBC show “America’s Got Talent” is hoping to attract Portlanders to auditions on Dec. 1.

The talent search, which is open to contestants of all ages, could lead to an opportunity to appear in the eighth season of the summer show. Last season’s finalists included a comedian, a family dog act and a one-of-a-kind musical instrument.

After the stop in Portland and the Northwest, the talent search will head south to New Orleans, Birmingham, Ala., and Nashville. Updates, pre-registration forms, audition tips and a full list of details with all venue information can be found at

“America’s Got Talent” is the only talent competition show that is open to any age and any talent. The auditions allow performers to showcase their talents in 90 seconds to the series’ producers. If they pass that test, they may be able to take the stage in front of the judges.

Every type of performer is welcome — including musicians, dance crews, magicians, contortionists, comedians, singers, jugglers and animal acts.

This year’s search is the show’s largest.

The Portland auditions are on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Oregon Convention Center.
