Two water mains about a mile apart broke and caused traffic problems in North Portland on Tuesday morning.
The Water Bureau says the breaks are not related and the causes have not been determined.
The first break closed the right-hand east-bound lane on Northeast Columbia Boulevard east of Northeast Argyle Drive for approximately 100 feet. Traffic safety cones were put in place to direct drivers around the one-lane road closure. It was quickly repaired by a bureau work crew and there were no service disruptions.
The second break closed North Wayland Avenue for a single block between North Willis Boulevard and North Hunt Street. The occurred in an eight-inch diameter pipe and disrupted water service for approximately 15 homes in a two block stretch of Wayland between Willis North McCoy Court.
Traffic safety cones were used to direct traffic around the repair crew who worked on the break.
