Police doubt woman's stabbing story

Police suspect a woman stabbed herself and made up a story about being attacked by another woman Thursday evening.

A mental health hold has been placed on the woman, who was

transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, at 9:00 p.m. on Dec. 27, officers responded to the report of a stabbing on Southeast 174th Avenue, just South of Stark Street.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the victim, a female in her 20s, suffering from a stab wound. She said the suspect walked up to her and stabbed her without provocation.

The woman described the suspect as a female of unknown race, 5'7" tall, with a stocky build and wearing all dark clothing.

After the victim was transported to an area hospital, officers, including a Police K-9 Unit, conducted an extensive neighborhood search but did not locate anyone matching the suspect's description.
